Lanka skipper Chandimal charged with ‘changing the condition’ of ball

Sri Lankan captain Dinesh Chandimal has been charged by the International Cricket Council (ICC) with changing the condition of the ball.

The island nation is currently playing an overseas Test series against West Indies.

The incident happened on Day 2 of the second Test.

SL skipper is likely to face a ban for his role in this incident.

Here is more on the news.

Chandimal charged for using unfair means

The ICC stated that the player breached the ‘Code of Conduct’ by changing the condition of the ball by unfair means.

He becomes the third captain in recent times to be charged with ball-tampering after Faf du Plessis and Steve Smith.

ICC regulations see a match ban and fine for such incidents, but the punishment could be increased as well.
